Why coconut water is so good for you?

Hope you’re having a tranquil
and enjoyable holiday season, and
that you are not having any
digestion issues… due to
overeating 😉

Here…. it’s been an adventure.
Many of my family members got sick;
perhaps too much food for some, and
maybe a virus got into others. Thank
goodness I have escaped both!

One of the things that helped a lot
was precisely what I was telling
you about the last time: coconut
water!

Coconut water has been used as
food and medicine for looong time.

In many cultures is regarded as a
powerful nutritious and healing
beverage.

For instance, it’s recommended to
pregnant and nursing women and it’s
given to babies as they begin
weaning.

I remember a workshop I attended
in Toronto where Dr. Aris LaTham,
a pioneer in raw food, said that
coconut water was the most detoxifying,
healing and invigorating water there
was. He has a health retreat in the
Caribbean by the way.

Anyhoo, coconut water is rich in
potassium (it has more potassium
than bananas!), and it also contains
calcium and magnesium.

Other trace elements it has
include selenium, zinc and iodine.

In tropical countries coconut water
is used to treat severe dehydration,
influenza, cholera, urinary infections
and kidney stones; it’s been
demonstrated that this water can
help people with the expulsion of
kidney stones saving them from
surgery!

But wait.. there is more 😉

Have you heard of cytokinins?

They are a group of plant growth
substances, or phytohormones
hormones that have an anti-aging
effect, and guess what? Coconut
water is the richest source
(100% natural) of cytokinins.

In short coconut water re-hydrates
the body, regulates blood pressure,
aids and improves digestion, helps
balance blood sugar levels in
diabetics, improves kidney and
immune function and feeds
friendly gut bacteria
, among many,
many other things.

You may have noticed that coconut
is becoming quite popular. It’s
a commodity that has gone up 40% in
price the last year! No wonder why,
ah?

You can see lots of products made
of coconut in the stores and health
food stores these days, and in many
supermarkets you are able to buy
the fruit and crack it open to
drink the juice and eat the flesh..
yummy.

I am very much into coconut as you
may know it, and always try to have
the oil and the fruit handy.

I hope you do not wait until
you go to Jamaica to try coconut
water, if you haven’t, and enjoy
the multiple health benefits it
has to offer cuz, there are not
many super foods like this.

Me? I’m ready to nibble a piece
of coconut!

Wishing you a healthy day the
natural way,

Suzanne
