Your Energy, Libido, Mood and Thyroid Depends on…

Yesterday we were talking about how important it
is for you to promote adrenal health if you want
to live a healthy, vibrant life (and with peace
of mind).

In case you missed it, we were saying that the adrenal
glands play a key role in your ability to handle stress and
in your energy levels. And that their function has a
direct effect on your thyroid function.

We were saying too that things such as stress and coffee
overwork the adrenals.

If the adrenals get overworked and exhausted, well, you’ll
feel kind of the same, extremely tired.

And symptoms such as anxiety, dry skin, difficulty to lose
weight, depression insomnia, headaches, loss of libido,
cravings for salty foods and low blood sugar may appear.

So what can you do?

Fortunately, unless you have a serious problem with the
adrenals, there are some things you can do to support their
health and proper function.

One of those – and very important – is nutrition.

There are nutrients and foods that promote adrenal health
and the most important is… can you guess… potassium.

Potassium rich foods are crucial and the good news is that
there are so many to choose from.

Here is a list to get you started:

Almonds (the king of nuts)
Brazil nuts
Apples
Raw apricots
Raisins
Dried figs
Parsley
Garlic
Spinach
Avocados (one of my favorite fruits)
Carrots
Celery
Bananas
Beef

Experts say that the intake of potassium per day should
be between 3 to 5 grams.

And that while you increase your intake of this key mineral,
you should decrease the intake of sodium. (Our diets have
so much sodium and very little potassium).

They also say that for every 5 grams of potassium we
should consume one of sodium

Salt and many processed foods we buy have lots
of sodium so make it a habit to check the labels. Or even
better… avoid prepared foods and opt for more fresh,
unprocessed foods.

Fruits, vegetables and lean cuts of meat and poultry will
nourish your glands, your body, and will enhance your
overall health.

There are other things you can do to maintain your adrenals
in check, and as I said before we’ll be covering those in the
future as we go along.

For now, grab a fruit or a veggie, enjoy it, savoir it and
with every bite remember that you are adding to your
health and well being. That you are taking control the
natural way and that it has a great cumulative effect.

Wishing you all the best as ever,

Suzanne
