It’s estimated that approximately 90 percent of the general population suffer from some form of inferiority complex.

This means that about 9 in every 10 persons feel that they are inadequate in some way. Why should you focus on the negative, when the positive is so much more exciting and rewarding?

The Self-Image – Key to a Better Life

I recently came across a book by Maxwell Maltz, M.D., F.I.C.S., entitled “Psycho-Cybernetics, A New Way to Get More Living Out of Life,” and I must say that it’s a great read for anyone looking to improve his or herself.

The self-image plays a very important role in self-esteem; whether you have a high or low self-esteem. The self-image is your own perception of yourself, and is created from the beliefs that you have about yourself.

It’s vital for you to understand that you’ll act like the person you perceive yourself to be, and your behavior, feelings, and actions will reflect that. Therefore, positive beliefs about yourself, is equivalent to a positive self-image.

Your self-image can also be changed. It’s possible for you to change your negative outlook of yourself to a positive one. Positivity leads to a better life.

The Secret of the Self-Image

The secret of the self-image may be no secret at all, but here goes – JUST LIVE! It’s up to you to find yourself acceptable and be happy with who you are. You need to trust in, and NEVER be ashamed of yourself.

Your self-image also needs to be realistic. This means that you should be able to identify, and be honest about both your weaknesses and strengths.

Having a positive self-image will give you the courage to freely be yourself. Being comfortable with yourself allows you to express your creativity without restraint. Additionally, you’ll be able to perform at your best.

Your Creative Mechanism

When you’re happy and successful or even unhappy and failing, your creative mechanism is at work. As such, one of the primary steps to overcoming an inferiority complex is feeding your creative mechanism with success goals.

Giving your creative mechanism success goals to work towards is an excellent way of improving your self-image.

Inferiority to Superiority

Dr. Maxwell Maltz mentioned in his book that what all of us really want is more life. However, more life can only be achieved when we experience success, peace of mind, and happiness.

If you allow yourself to be overcome by self-hate, fear and anxiety, then you’re cutting off your life force. When you dwell on these negative emotions, there’s no way for you to grow or improve on your talents.

Leave the feelings of inferiority behind, and become a better and superior you.

The Better You

Once you’ve made the decision to learn, practice, and experience new and positive habits of thinking about yourself, you’ll be on the right track to a better you.

Shun your inferiority complex by developing a realistic self-image, and by using success goals to feed your creative mechanism.
