Ayurvedic Herbs for Metabolism

Q: Are there any herbs used in Ayurveda that can help to boost metabolism? If so, how could I use them?

A: First of all, I’d like to say that exercising is the best way to speed up body metabolism. There are many options; choose a type you like and be consistent.

Regarding herbs, herbal tea made with bay leaves, tulsi, coriander leaves and mint leaves, when consumed frequently, help to increase metabolism. Add two teaspoons of raw honey and enjoy!

Guggulu is another herb that that assists digestion and maintains body metabolic rate.

Also, there is formulation called an herb called Triphala, which contains fruits such as bibhitaki, haritaki and amla. It assists detoxification, nourishes the nervous system and improves digestion, all important for a balanced metabolism.
